After I completed the flower in the middle, which is highlighted by the sunlight catching the edges of the petals, I felt that a very dark flower beneath it would provide contrast and add some dimension. It is a bit easier to see now, how the flowers will negate the diagonal twig somewhat. Click on the image to see a closer view.
